    For the air-spaced polarising prism the air-gap thickness can be decreased infinitely to gain the large semi-field angle, or otherwise the extinction ratio is affected seri-ously. In this paper we give one of the conditions for gainiug high extinction ratio.

    A new design of optical fuzzy logic gates using simple optoelectronic hybrid circuits is presented in this paper. Four basic fuzzy logic implementations, such as complement, maximum, minimum and bounded difference are demonstrated experimentally. A multifunctional programmable optoelectronic hybrid fuzzy logic gate is also proposed. Different input assignment can be elioseu by employing a multiplex logic circuit, and therefore seven kinds of fundamental fuzzy logic implementation include bounded sum, bounded product and implication can be performed in real time.

    Investigation results are presented of amorphous treatment for 20# steel ear-bonitrided layers by high power pulsed Nd:glass laser, high repoatition frequency YAG laser and high power CO2 laser. The relationship was studied among the formation condition of the amorphous state and the surface hardness, abrasion and corrosion, and the heat endurance of the amorphous state was tested.

    Based on respective features of acoustooptio Q-switohing and dye Q-switehing, the theory of acoustooptie-dye double Q-switching(ADDQS) is first reported in this paper. We studied the characteristics of ADDQS laser output and provided a dependable theoretical basis for realizing the optimum laser output by means of reasonable selection of the laser parameters. The experimental results coincide with the theory.

    This paper analyses the gain change of free-electron laser caused by the radiation frequency shift as the relativistie factor y gradunally decreases while the relativistic electrons propagate in the wiggler. Using a wiggler whose spatial periodic changes" along the propagation direction to keep the radiation frequency constant, we can increase the laser gain. The possible change law of spatial periodic is given.

    The design and experimental results of a rotating hollow cylinder Nd: glass laser are presented. A pulsed laser energy of 13J and a pulse reptition rate of 15Hz have been obtained. The overall laser efQoiency is 2.2% and the slope efficiency is 3.4%.

    A series of stimulated radiation signals covering from infrared to ultraviolet ranges were generated when atomic ytterbium was pumped to high lying singlet and triplet states with two dye lasers excited simultaneously by a N2 laser using two-step pump. These stimulated lines are from radiative transitions between singlet states, triplet states and singlet-triplet states respectively. The generation processes of these stimulated lines were disscussed in detail.Besides, the ratio of the absorption coefficients between singlet states and singlet-triplet states, and that of probability of collision energy-transfer were measured.

    Energy levels and weighted oscillator strengths for Be-like ions (Z = 14 -17, 19, 20) for soft X-ray laser research are reported. The transitions between the 2s3d, 2s4d, 2s5d even configuration and the 2s3p, 2s4f, 2s5f odd configurations are considered and multi-configuration HXR method involving optimization of radial integrals are used in the computations.

    The phase fluctuations of received IF signals by atmospheric turbulence for CO2 laser homodyne communication system are investigated theoretically and experimentally. The results show that the system is helpful to overcome the random phase fluctuation of the received IF signals. The noise effect due to the phase fluctuations by atmospharic turbulence can be neglected.

    An optical bistable device using piezooptical effect of glass fiber is presented. Using the photoelastic and strain effect of single-mode glass fiber we realized piezooptical modulation and performed the optical bistable experiment.

    Based on sphere model, the stimulating of the photo elastic stress wave inside the medium, and propagation are studied theoretically. Experimental verifications on epoxy resin are made and the propagation velocity of photothermoelastic stress wave in the medium are obtained.
