Electro-optical effect and optical conductive effect of BSO crystals is studied in this paper. The opto-electro optical modulation is realized using these two kinds of optical effects.

An exeimer laser beam was used to irradiate superconducting Y-Ba Cu oxide pellet to make the elements of the target sputter and deposit as films on the substrates placed parallelly to the pellet. With appropriate post-annealing, the deposited films were of superconducting transition above 77 K, and the films with zero resistance temperature of 85 K were prepared. The effects of deposition conditions and post-annealing procedure on the properties of the thin film were discussed.

Starting from the principle of equivalent confocal cavity, the paper discusses the restraint conditions for the curvature radius error ΔR of reflective mirrors in a confocal Fabry-Perot scanning interferometer. The analytical results show that the limit to ΔR is very strict and ΔR can be properly compensated by off-focus amount 8.

An optical fiber sensor is made for measuring alcohol gas. The sensing probe consists of SnO2. The experiment shows that the transmittance increases when the concentration of gas is increased. The measuring range are from 200-40000ppm and the sensing mechanism is explained.

The changes of pain threshold and two neuropetides, substance P (SP) and methionine-enkephalin (ENK), were observed after He-Ne laser irradiating at acupoint(LIA) of rats. The pain threshold was very significantly higher after LIA than before (P<0.001). The SP-LI was obviously enhanced (P<0.001), whereas the ENK-LI markedly diminished (P<0.001) in the rats of laser group as compared with those of control group.

Chromosome samples were prepared from dividing cells of root topa of broad bean, maize, wheat, and barley, etc. by means of aquash method. Miero-disseetion of chromosome was performed on the microscopic stage using argon laser microirradiation (514.5 nm). The chromosomes could be dissected into 12,6-9,6 and 4-6 chromosomal fractions respectively while the suitable laser power densities were applied. The establishment of laser micro-dissection of chromosome in plants provides the possibillity of the application of laser microbeam irradiation in chromosome engineering, assignment of genes, and DNA micro-cloning from chromosomal fragment in crons.

Human osrvix Hela cells were synchronized, collected and seeded into Rose chambers for experiment. Cells at G1, S and G2 stages were then treated in the medium with hematoporphyrin (HPD) and irradiated by a laser mierobeam at 632.8nm. It was found that in case of the occurrence of primary and significant visible damage, cells at S stage showed the earliest, G2 stage the next, and G1 stage the latest. Variance analysis demonstrated that the variations are statistically significant.

The polarization properties of the output light of two-mode gas lasera ffected by external transverse uniform magnetic field is theoretically investigated. The calculation is given for the polarization paramaters of two-mode He-Ne laser at 632. 8nm with the motion equations deduced for the polarization parameters of two longitudinal modes. The linear polarization output light with high polarization degree is obtained as the strength of the external magnetic field is beyond the threshold value and the experimental results are consistent with the theory.

This paper describes a new way to stabilize the frequency of a Zeeman He-Ne gas laser. The laser frequency is stabilized by controlling the refractive index of the laser plasma. It dose not need a gas laser tube with a piezoelectric ceramic (PZT) made by special technology. As the phase-locking technology is used in the laser servo system, the self-beat frequency is a constant and the frequency stability is better than 2.2×10-11 (averaging time =10 sec.). The long term frequency fluctuation never exceeded 2×10-8 during two months. The frequency of the locked point can be adjusted continuously in the range of over 200 MHz.

A three-dimensional model for transient thermal profile in a finite laser rod is presented. Closed-form temperature expressions are derived in general case. A comparison, between the rod-and slab-geometry media is given and computerized calculations are performed to explain our theoretical results.

The emission spectrum of laser produced magnesium plasma has been recorded photographically in 4-12 nm spectral range by means of P. grazing incidence grating spectro-graph. Using isoelectronie regularities from known spectra of other neighbouring ions, the spectral lines of Be-like magnesium ions have been recognized and many new ones are obtained.

It is shown that the squeezed states |a,s>A = S'(z)D(a) |0>and |a, s>B=D(a) S(s)|0>are not fully equivalent. In fact, they are two eigenstates of annihilation operator of squeezon called by us, as b=SaS+, with the same squeezing features but different eigenvalues. Their statistical distributions and features of photons have striking difference and the status of energies contained by them are quite different.

The absorption characteristics and the response time of the Cs atomic resonance filter (AEF) filled with 5 torr Ar bufier gas have been investigated theoretically and experimentally when AEF was irradiated with the free-run XeCl/Pb blue lase r(pulse width:40ns). The near infrared fluorescence pulse with 40 ns and 150 ns (FWHM) pulse duration have been detected at the side of and behind the AEF respectively.
