This paper reports for the first time a new crystal-Triallylthiourea cadmium bromine crystal (Cd(C4H8N2S)3Br2, ATCB for short). The growth process of this crystal from aqueous solution by slowly cooling method is discussed. The ATCB single crystal with a size of 20×20×20 mm has been obtained and its properties have been studied.

Diffraction pattern (i. e. off-focal pattern) of reconstructed hologram on the off-focal plane was processed with language C programmed by scanning method, thas obtaining particle size and distribution in the particle field. This method has the advantages of fast speed and high accuracy.

Feeding a polarized light beam back into a small quasi-isotropic He-Ne laser, a "Light Feed-back Polarized Flip-flop Laser Interforometer" is constructed. With the movement of the feed-back mirror, the polarization of the laser will flip-flop, and this square wave output is an accurate measurement of the displacement of the feed-back mirror.

The studies of ablation of skin by 193nm excimer laser were performed on an animal model. The paper presents the relation of ablation depth to the laser beam fluence (energy per unit area). The results suggested that the optimal photoablation were found with exposure dose less than 300mJ/cm2 and 800mJ/cm2 per pulse.

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of low-power lager irradiation on epidermal Langerhans cells. The result showed that the number of Langerhans cells decreased markedly after the irradiation, whereas the morphology and distribution of Langerhans cells showed no significant changes.

A GW level high power CO2 laser system has been developed. A short laser pulse is cut out by a double Pockels eellelectro-optical shutter from a hybrid CO2 laser oscillator and amplified by a three-stage dual-path TEA preamplifior, a two-stage TEA preamplifier, a large aperture TEA amplifier and an electron beam controlled terminal amplifior. All parts of the laser system are controlled with a control system. The laser output power is up to 3.2×l09 watts, and the laser pulse width is 4 ns.

Transient two-wave coupling gain versus delay time between the pump beam and the probe beam in GaAs has been measured, and the properties of various processes in two-wave coupling are analyzed. A change in the polarization of coupling beam is predicted and has been observed. It has been shown that ps two-wave coupling is a new way to realize ps optical switching.

The quantum fluctuation of light fiold induced by an one-atom maser is investigated by means of Jaynes-Cummings mode, and the general expressions for the variances of the quadrature components of the field are obtained. Optimum squeezing in a class basic states and the corresponding time evolution are demonstrated. As an example, squeezing in initial state with bare atomic system in the thermal equilibrium distribution is studied in detail.

The flow characteristics and thermal effects in gas-flow medium where there is some deposited energy (such as electrical diseharge, absorption of laser radiation) have been analyzed on the basis of gasdynamic equations. When 0.05≤M≤0.2 which is a typical condition for gas-flow discharge lasers, the gasdynamie equations become the simplest ones. It is quite easy to get an analytical solution and it is possible to measure the distributions of the deposited energy, density, temperature and velocity in flow direction in the active medium by laser interferometry.

Mg2SiO4:Cr3+ single crystals were growh by Czoehralski method for the first time in China. Characterization of crystal growth, its structure and morphology wre described. The absorption spectrum and fluorescence spectrum of Mg2SiO4:Cr were measured. Vibronic side band of the fluorescence spectrum in our Cr3+:Mg2SiO4 crystals ranges from 800nm to 1400nm and the absorption band of Fe3+ wore observed.
