The structure and Raman spectra of a new nonlinear optical crystal Zn(SCN)2·2H2O are reported and the relationship between the crystal structure and Raman spectra is discussed.

A Zero-gap directional coupler with Ti: LiNbO3 waveguides atλ = 1.3μm. has been fabricated An ON/OFF ratio of 17 dB switch voltage of 23 V and capacitance of 6 pF were measured and the theoretical band-width is greater than 1 GHz.

The study results of fluorescence spectra, polarization spectra and luminescence lifetime are reported. The four fluorescence bands(4F3/2→4I9/2,11/2,13/2,15/2)of Nd3+ in LNP crystal were given for the first time and the polarized spletrum and the fluorescence life-time are measured.

A light scattering method for measuring molecular intradiffusion coefficients and diameters of particles in liquid is reported. The diameter of a hemoglobin molecule has been successfully measured and the merits and demerits of this method are discussed.

This paper reports the application of laser in preputial resection and compares it with traditional surgical operation. The results shows that laser therapy is superior to the surgical operative treatment.

Autofluorescence spectrum of the brain tumour of mice was detected after crani-otomy, the autofluoreseence spectrum of specimen of human glioma was measured after operation. Also found was the difference of retained time of HpD in sarcoma implanted in the brain or under the skin.

This paper describes a new image-shearing camera which focuses three or four laterally sheared image at the film plane. With coherent illumination, this camera becomes a shearing interferometer which can directly measures the second order derivatives of surface displacement.

Limitation of cancelling the image distortion by degenerate four-wave mixing is studied by analysing the effect of phase-conjugated distortion by degenerate four-wave mixing and the turbulence effect on laser light propagation.

The transmission of a Gaussian beam can be described by ABCD law[1]. In this paper, a generalized ABCD law has been derived using the theory of hydrodynamic model[2,3], which can be used to describe the transmission of a paraxial light beam.

Experimental results of an angle-tuned KTP optical parametric oscillator (OPO) pumped by the second harmonic of a Q-swiched Nd:YAG laser are presented. The output energies greater than 19.5mJ/pulse have been obtained with an energy conversion efficiency of 19% and the obsorved tuning range was 0.96-1.2μm.

An array-typed,sealed-off mini-TEA CO2 laser is reported. This device can not only deliver multi-beams parallelly, but also various CO2 laser outputs with high quality by using optical systems combinations, there by it has wide potential applications in many scientific and technical fields.

In this paper we discuss the light ray propagation and paraxial imaging characteristics of a parabolic defocusing GRIN fiber lens based on the ray equation. The analytical solutions are found for the ray paths propagating in a parabolic defocusing GRIN fiber lens and used to derive the GRIN lens law. The equivalent focal length and the principal planes are determined.

The principle, set-up and experimental results for measuring the shape and width of picosecond light pulses by means of non-collinear second harmonic wave generat ion in KDP are reported. The method is compared with self-correlation function method. The curve of corrector in the width correlation measurement is given.

The influence of flow velocity variation on the output power of high pressure CW CO2 lasers was investigated, and the gain, saturated gain and coupling degree dependence on the flow velocity at the gas pressure of one atmosphere were calculated.

Both FM noise spectrum and AM noise spectrum of a semiconductor laser(LD) can be changed by weak optical feedback under proper conditions. The suppression of noise is accompanied by the reduction of relaxation oscillating frequency.
