A new method for measurement of the laser transition cross-section and fluorescence lifetime is introduced. It is based on the relation between the laser relaxation oscillation frequency and the laser parameters. By this method, the transition cross-section and the fluorescence lifetime of Nd:YAG laser at 1.0642μm and Nd:YAP laser at 1.0795μm are measured to be 43×10-20 cm2, 252μs and 46×10-20cm2, 142μs respectively.

The paper describes the analyses of 3-D asymmetric temperature field by moire deflectometry. The method is based on measuring the deflection of rays from a collimated light beam due to gradients in refractive index. The deflection data were reduced from the deflecto-grams at 182 positions of 13 viewing angles, and the temperature field in a particular plan (Z=constant) was obtained by solving the inverse Radon transform.

A new adjustable magneto-optical isolator in near-infrared region is repotod. Based on the theoretical analysis an adjustable magnetic field system is designed for 45° Faraday rotator, getting a 1.0°-1.5° adjustable region under the condition of saturation, by which the characteristics of magneto-optical isolator are improved effectively that are influenced by the temperature characteristics of magneto-optical crystal, strong external magnetic firld, ageing effect of device and so on. The experimental results are obtained at 1.3 μm and at room temperature (T=25 ℃). Its insertion loss is less than 1.8 dB and isolation is over 29 dB.

The autofluorescence of normal skin, gastric mucosa, liver, and transplanted cancers excited by xenon ion laser (=365nm) was tested in rats, mice and nude mice. The transplanted cancers included human gastric cancer, human hepatocellular cancer, and human lung cancer, as well as S-180 leiomyosarcoma. The autofluorescence of specimens was spectroeopically measured and recorded and the experimental results are given.

We report the curative effect and effective mechanism of cervical spondylogis (nerve root type) treated with He-Ne laser local and point irradiation and the comparison observation between He-Ne irradiation and cervical traction. The results show that laser therapy w superior to cervical traction, and hence it is a better recovery method.

A novel light modulator based on binary optics is proposed, which is consisted of two binary π/2 phase gratings, one for self-imaging and the other for phase compensation. An analytic expression for the modulation of any form of incident wave-front is obtained by using the Fresnel diffraction theory. Numerical simulations on the zero-order diffraction of Gaussian beams are given. It is concluded that tho modulability is directly proportional to the beam radius and reversely to the distance between the two gratings. Experiments results are given, too.

The element distribution, the phase structure and the microstructure morphology of C-N-B laser-alloyed layer on 60# steel surface were studied by employing the Auger electrom spectrometer, X-ray diffraetometer and the scanning electron microscope. The results show that the laser alloying of C-N-B surface will give rise to many strengthening effects on the base metal, and the fine metallurgical bonding has been achieved on the surface layer with the substrate. The relation between the properties of alloyed layer and the scanning speed have been discussed.

We adopted amplification with streehed input and double-pass amplification in the oscillation-amplification system of copper vapor lasers. The output power of them was 7% and 8% higher than that of the travelling wave amplifier respectively. The experimental results showed that the time jitter between the output wave form and the input wave form of the amplifier was ±4.0 ns, while the time jitter between the two oscillators was ±9.0 ns.

Experimental setup for studying the kinetic process of TSRS in ethanol and the experimental results are reported. Comparing the experimental results with the theoretical model of Carman et al., both were basically agreeable. Baman pulse of-310 fs was obtained at the optimum operating parameters. The Baman pulse width was narrowed by -80 times as that of the pumping pulse.

The experiment of nondegenorato four-wave mixing was carried out in Ti-diffu-sed LiNbO3 single mode waveguide:by end-face coupling. The frequency doubled light propagated certain divergent angle in the direction perpendicular to the surface was observed. The mechanism of divergence was explained by the theory of diffraction.
