On the basis of measured expression from the rate equation, the stimulated-emission cross sections of seven lines of CO2 laser from 00?-10? transition at different conditions were measured by means of a pulse-amplification-gain technique, and 83 values of were obtained. Theoretical values of were calculated according to an analytical expression from the definition of The measured values of were compared with theoretical ones, and they are in satisfactory agreement. Finally,an analysis was made of the dependence of on the rotational quantum number J,its temperature and the pressure of active gas mixture.

Four kinds pf cavity configurations of dye lasers transversely pumped by high PEF CuBr lasers are investigated and their operating characteristics compared. The doable prism expander with Littrow mounted grating cavity is found to be the optimum. Linewidth achieved is 0.0012 nm in 598~640 nm range and the conversion efficiency is 7.5%. The amplified: spontaneous emission of 1.5% and single longitudinal mode operation areobtained.

Experimental results is presented which show that at the pumping level of 5W, when the beam divergence of copper vaper laser reduces from 8 mrad to 1 mrad, the outpnt power of the dye laser pumped with it will be doubled or more. Further improvement of divergence, however, can only result in slight increase of effcency of the dye laser. This conclusion is in good agreement with the simple analysis of geometric optics. Thus, injection locked unstable resonator is the best arrangement for copper vapor laser as pumping source for dye lasers.

A notel two-channel discharge pumped excimer laser is reported. Two sets of LC pulse forming were line connected with the main dischange capaeitors respectively and oontroled by a common spark gap, discharged to their own channel. A pulse duration of 60 as from XeCl excimer laser was obtained, which was operated at fine sychronism(jitter time 4ns).The energy of each laser beam was 120mJ.
