The thermal relaxation rates of the vibrational levels (0001) and (1000) of CO2 molecules in a discharged positive .column have been measured by OGE. The dependences of the thermal relaxation rates on the incident intensity, discharge current, pressure and foreign gasea have also been investigated. The approximate values of T001 and T100 obtained are 0.6-1.5 ms and 0.2-0.8 ms respectively.

Self-generated magnetic field in the corona area of laser plasmas has been measured using Faraday-rotation method of 630.3 nm probe beam. Experimental results prove that "thermal force source" which Golombant has suggested theoritically is one of the imprortant sources which produce self-generated magnetic field.

Ways are put forward for making amplitude filters by picking out the phase transfer function and for making phase filter by grating and hologram. Tranfer function independent of frequency for electron micrograph deconvolution is obtained, which improves the resolution of electron micrograph.

High power laser cladding of NiGrSiB alloy on A3 steel plate was performed. Surface with excellent performances of high creep and oxidation resistance equivalent to nikel base superalloy K5 has been obtained. The superlattice BNigSi and the long-period structure were first observed in NiOrSiB alloy laser cladding casings.

The emission spectra of four dye mixtures pumped by N2 laser are studied. These mixtures are rhodamine 6G+crestyl violet, rhodamine B+crestyl violet, rhodamine 6G +rhodamine B and rhodamine 6G+rhodamine B+cz-estyl violet. The energy transfer processes in the mixtures are discussed. It has been shown that the broadening tuning range of dye lasers, the increase of laser efficiency of some dyes and dual wavelength laser oscillation in the dye mixtures are feasible.

Cooperative effects were observed in the near-resonance electronic Baman scattering experiments of XeCl excimer laser pulses in Pb vapor. The Baman-radiation pulse shapes obtained by numerically solving the two-level Bloch-Maxwell equations were found to be qualitatively consistent with the experimental results.
