The kinetics of gas reaction by multiphoton ionization method is reported. The detection of NO is made by the resonant multiphoton ionization of NO via the C2H state. The rate constant of NO reaction with O3 is obtained to be 1.1 X 10-14cm3 mol-1s-1 in a flow system, in good agreement with previous data. It should be considered that the photodissociation of NO2 will also contribute to the MPI signal at 365.45nm. Apparent dissociation rate of about 50% at this wavelength has been obtained.

Experimental system and results on imaging metal of subsurface defect with photothermal deflection(i.e. marage effect) technique are presented. Experimental results show this technique has great potentialities in non-contact imaging of the subsurface-structure of materials.

Relationship between the melting depth and laser parameters in laser melting treatment of Fe2B boronized layers and phase distribution of 45* steel is studied. It was found that: (1) the melting depth H is related to the scanning speed v as H=K/v0.65, at a given laser power density; (2) there is FeB phase in a melted zone; (3) curve of hardness distance from the surface has a hardness peak and the position of which depends on the scanning speed.

Primary factors affecting image quality of scanning optical system are analyzed, relations between the configuration of the scanning lens composed of five lenses and the aberrations are studied. The scanning lens has the features of small F number, wide field of view, and a linear error of less than 0.2%.

Experimental results show that the activities, survivability and the acrosomal expansivity of sperms are much higher than those of control group, and the activities of GOT is higher, but alkaline phophotase of semen is not the case; no abnormal embryos were found owing to the insemination using the semens irradiated for 20 minutes and all kids were well developed.

The electron trajectories, gain, and dispersion of FEL’s with axial guided magnetic field are discussed based on single-particle orbits. More attention is paied to the analysis of the orbit solutions.

Lamb’s semielassical theory of laser has been used to analyse the effect of the shot noise and thermal noise on operation performances of lasers. Fokker-Planck equation of distribution probability of the laser field with the presence of shot noise and thermal noise is derived. Criteria of conditions under which bunching or anti-bunching exists is obtained and the results are compared with those of one-photon lasers.

The characteristics of intensity noise of laser due to signal wave feedback in a fiber-optic gyroscope is investigated. It has been found that the signal wave feedback would cause a large amount of intensity noise of laser and that an intensity noise peak appears at the signal detection frequency. By establishing a theoretical model for the laser in a fiber-optic gyroscope, the relations of the intensity noise with various factors in the gyroscope are analyzed and the the results are in good agreement with those of experiment. Finally, the measured to reduce the effects of dignal wave feedback on system performances are presented.

A series of phenomenologieal relaxation equations have been introduced to describe the formation and decay of grating in the medium. The influences of medium relaxation on the transient properties of degenerate four-wave mixing were studied theoretically and experimentally. Through investigation of the shape of backward wave, the collection effect and smoothing effect were observed. Theoretical explanations of the experimental results were perfect.

We first investigated frequency properties of collinear photothermal deflection spectrum of NaCl, the frequency property dependence on the included angle between the exciting beam and the probe beam and the exciting pumping power. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical calculation. The experimental conditions affecting photothermal deflection signal were preliminarily investigated.

Experimental results are reported on a 1 kW transverse flow CW CO2 laser in which helium is replaced by argon, the main parameters are the same as those of using helium. Also given are the construction feature of the laser, the factors causing temperature increase and the corresponding measures taken. The influence of argon on the upper energy level of CO2 are analysed.

Some new results of Raman spectra of Al2O3:Ti3+ crystals are reported. It was experimentally found that Al2O3 crystals doped with Ti3+ ions "would increase the intensity of two Raman peaks which correspond to external vibrations of eigenmodes respectively. Based on the model of photon-electron coupling, an explanation to this phenomenon is given.
