    An optical fiber sensor for current measurement has been constructed by using magneto-optical effect. In this paper the main problems have been discussed, such as selection and treatment of fiber, the structure of sensing head and the method of forming fiber coil, the design of detecting and processing system, the adjustment of the optical system etc. The measurement results of the experimental system are given as well.

    Polycrystalline fiber KBS-5 with 0.5~1mm in diameter and up to 10 metersr long have been prepared by an extru-sion method. The effects of fiber length and the features of fiber end on the mea-sured value of fiber loss are studied. After comparing the losses of KRS-5 fibers prepared in different conditions, possible ways to further reduce the fiber are briefly disucussed.

    A new kind of holographic optical lens, MEHL, is fabricated. White-light optical processing of images encoded by speckle is realized with this holographic lens. MEHL can also be used for one-step rainbow holography without slit.

    This article present our; experimental procedure in earbo-nitro-borconizing of 45# steel surface by usingahigh power CW CO2 laser. It also presents a comprehensive analysis of tbe phase structure, phase morpeology, distribution profile of teh three elements,thehardness and the resistance to abrasion of the sample. The experimental results indicate that the laser surface alloying of carbon, nttrogen and boron will give rise to many strengthening effects on the base metal.

    The possibility of observing different types of two-photon three-level echo (TTE) ig analyzed for various energy level configurations, populations and pulse sequences. The analysis shows that seven more types of TTB may exist and there are only two.kinds of echo time. Since the whole possible configurations are analyzed, the TTE theory is perfected.

    Raman spectra of 4-n-hexylbenzonic acid-4’-cryanophenyl ester (for short: HBACPE) were recorded and analysed in the regions of 100cm-1 to 1700 cm-1. Compared with the liquid crystals of aromatic ester, the molecular structure of HBACPE spectral change of HBACPE in different phases, the conformations of benzone rings and alkyl chain were discussed.

    The anti-Stokes stimulated Raman scattering (ASSRS) processes at 266 mn and 283nm in compressed hydrogen at low temperatures are observed. By lowering the gas temperature to 78K, the intensities of 2nd to 6th order anti-Stokes (AS) scattering are increased comparing with the results at room temperatures.

    Using "hybrid" equivalent optical resonator the beam parameters of telescopic resonator with an internal thermal lens such as spot sizes at mirrors S1,S2, waist radii and their locations are derived analytically. The expressions are exact for Gaussian beams and can be extended easily to general multi-element resonators. Numerical calculations by means of computer confirm our theoretical considerations.

    A perturbation approximation theory is used for analysis of phase distortion in degenerate four-waveimixing. It is seen from the caeulation result that an important way of increasing the readout wave’s ratio of signal to noise (s/n) is to reduce the resultant distortion of other wave’s.
