In this paper We analyze the steady-state characteristics of bistable semiconductor laser diode (BILD). A simple model for optical output of BIDL is obtained using nonlinear rate quations for electron and photon densities. This model emphasizes the physical mechanisms and parameters responsible for the bistability, gives the state equation and explains the main features of BILD. Bistability with a very large hysteresis in P0-P4 characteristics is an outstanding feature of BILD.

The gas velocity of a high pressure transverse flow excimer laser was measured with laser interferometer. The effects of gas heating caused by gas discharge on the laser output power were analysed theoretically. Maximum output power of 18 W at 16 pps was obtained with uniform transverse flow technology.

An anomalous character of reflectivity of resonance active medium is analysed theoretically based on the treatment of nonlinear optical susceptibility of two level atomic system. The calculation curves of the relationship between B and A A* and B and 5 (A is the amplitude of the electric field of the laser beam, while 5 is the dimensionless detuning of center line of the atomic system about the’center frequency e0)) are obtained for the laser active medium as Nd: YAG crystal. It is shown that there is still dependence of B on A A* even at very low intensity of AA4.*-10-4.

Infrared fluorescence from the sensitized reaction in SF6-UFS-H3 system induced by 10.6.m P(24) line of a pulsed CO2 laser is investigated. The time resolved IB fluorescence of vibrationally excited HF* is measured with an InSb photovoltic detector and is compared with that from the SF6-H2 system under the similar experimental conditions. Our results show a linear dependence of fluorescence intensity with laser fluence. The time resolved IE fluorescence of HF* is dependent on the partial pressure of UF6, the fluorescence intensity obey the single exponential decay at lower PUIV but non-single exponential decay is observed at higher POT,- The time dependence of the HF* fluorescence intensity is explained with the infrared photo-sensitized reaction mechanism of the 8F6-UFe-H3 system.

Fluorescence, radiation from atomic uranium were detected conveniently at 753.393, 763.175 and 763.954 nm when a do operated hollow cathode lamp aa uranium vapor source was irradiated by a CW ion laser pumped rhodamine 6G dye Jaser light. The elimination of intense background mainly attributed to the emissionfromthe lamp are discussed in detail.

We report here the results about operation characteristics and error for F-P etalon wevelength meter with a reference beam. We have done some wavelength measurement experiment in a F-P system, in which the diameter of the interference pattern was measured by an OMA system and a He-Ne laser beam as reference beam. The EMS error for 32 different wavelength measurements was about 0.0019nm.

We used a piezoelectric ceramics as photoacoustic detector and investigated the dependence of photoacoustic signal on optical beam position at samples which was yielded by the optical absorption of the crystal Si at 10.6 /wn. The experimental results demonstrate that the photoacoustio signal was maximum when the optical beam was located at the centre of sample. When the optical beam scans along the diameter of the circular sample the photoacoustic signals decrease gradually as the distance between the position and the centre ’of sample increase. The measured results are in good agreement with those of the theoretical calculations.

According to the idea of "combining the inorganic distorted polyhedron with asymmetric conjugate organic molecules", preliminary exploratory results of nonlinear optical material of organometallic complex are reported for the first time. Comprehensive study was carried out on the growth and the linear and nonlinear optical properties of the typical material--bis-thiourea cadmium chloride (BTCC). The results show that the organometallic complex is a category of promising nonlinear optical material.

Two detection systems of fiber current sensors are described and compared in this paper. The analyses indicates that the double way detection system has higher level of SNB and stronger ability of suppressing distrubances than the single way detection system. It is not only used for measuring AC hut also DC and is considered to be the better detection system of fiber current sensors. The ^single way detection system has advanteges of simple structure, convenient adjustment and no special requirement for photodetector and amplifier. It is also useful in other fiber sensors such as fiber voltage meter.

LPS-II laser power stabilizer with LiNb03 electro-optic modulator and high performance servo-circuit is described. The power instability is less than 4-0.05%, with the insertion loss of less than 50%. If a sinusoidal wave or a square wave signal is inputed into the modulation terminal, a stable laser beam with the game waveform as the electric signal will be obtained.
