The nth order wave interaction theory investigated in this paper should be considered as a continuation of the "exact solution to solitary wave equations of light interaction with two-level atomic systems" in the earlier paper[1]. In literature[4,5] the third order wave equations originate from the research of three-wave interaction. But the nth order wave equations considered now are derived from the w-dimensionall vector functions which satisfy two nonlinear equations, and the general solutions can be expressed in terms of the upper hemiplane analytical solutions and the lower hemiplane analytical solutions. These results include the 2nd and the 3rd order solutions as a special example.

Using the simplified two-dimensional model, the small signal gain for a diffusion-type CW HF chemical laser is calculated. The effects of velocity, temperature, constituents on the gain are studied and some useful results obtained. The results agree with those obtained from two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. Our method is simpler and more practical.

It is pointed out in this paper that in order to increase efficiency of free-electron lasers with axial magnetic field, tapered wigglers can be applied. At the same time, general formulae for calculation of the parameters of the tapered wigglers have been derived, too. A comparison has been made between the two cases with and without axial magnetic field.

A pulsed and optically-pumped FIE laser with a mesh coupling and a stable cavity has been designed. Its cavity length can be adjusted. 5 FIR laser lines at 205.3μm, 163.9μm, 65.1μm, and 233μm emitted from CH3OH and 309.23μm from HCOOH have been obtained.

This paper describes a frequency stabilized dye laser oscillator-amplifier system for high resolution spectroscopy. It uses frequency doubled output of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser to pump a system that amplifies the output of a frequency stabilized CW dye laser to provide near Fourier transform limited pulses of 1 MW peak intensity. A new method for laser frequency stabilization is also presented.

In this paper the experimental study for narrow bandwidth tunning of ethy-englyeol solution of rhodamine 6G pumped by a XeCl excimer laser is reported. The tunable range from 572.7nm to 612.9 run with linewidth of 0.004 nm has been obtained. The conversion efficiency is 16.0%. The experimental results of other seven dyes are also presented.

The time-resolved and time-integrated spectra of fluorescence in Ar/He/F2 mixtures excited by fast discharge were measured. By measuring the ratio of ArF* and Ar3F* time-integrated intensities, the three body formation rate constants of Ar2F*, as well as the quenching coefficient of Ar2F* by F2 were obtained. The two-body formation reaction of Ar2F* via Ar2* and ion-ion recombination formation process of Ar2F* are aslo discussed.

The synthetic slit method of rainbow holography of 3-D diffuse objects[1-4] is extended to analyze the space Fourier characteristics of vibrating objects. A process of measuring both the amplitude and direction of vibration is presented. Experimental results obtained are coincident with the theoretical analysis.

The 10.6μm CO2 homodyne receiving has been adopted for detecting deterioration of the spatial ’coherence of laser radiation. The relation between the heterodyne efficiency and normalization aperture of the receiver is presented. It is shown that the efficiency of the heterodyne receiver decreases with increasing of the normalization aperture when the aperture of the heterodyne receiver is larger than the coherence diameter, but the result is opposite when the aperture is less than the coherence diameter.

A design using output from a bifrequency, colinear dye laser pumped by short-pulse xenon flash lamp is presented. The stimulated hyper-Raman radiation of near and middle IB may be generated by simultaneous single-double photon resonance enhencement. It has the features of low threshold, wider tunable range and low cost.

A series of observations were made of the effects of GaAs laser on drug-induced leukopenia in the rats, with the laser optical fiber introduced to the depth of the tissue for interstitial irradiation. The results suggest that GaAs laser might be helpful in the treatment of leukopenia of rats.
