It is advantageous to use lens array for uniform illumination of high-power laser targets 1 . By using the computer analysis of the optical field on the targets, the characteristics of this way have been studied. In the present report, we propose a star-shaped arrangement of the concentricity deviation of the lens array elements. This enables us to concentrate the two-dimensional interference pattern and can meet the requirements of the uniformity and experiments.

High order coherent Raman radiation caused by two different mechanisms in the stimulated Raman scattering experiments have been studied. One is the cascade stimulated scattering process, the other is Raman-resonance enhanced four-wave mixing which is characterized by phase matching condition and causes a hollow ring distributtion in the near-field. Experimental results judgement . using calcite sample have shown that these two physical processes can appear separately or simultaneously depending on the experimental conditions.

The rate equation of four-level systems which depends on the geometric parameters of the cavity evidently has been obtained by means of the equations for radiation-matter interaction. A relation satisfied by the geometric parameters of the laser cavity with stabiliezd power has been derived from the rate equation.

Coupled-mode approach and electron Bloch equations are combined to calculate the gain of free-electron lasers using Smith-Purecell effect in the gain quantum model. The possibility of increasing gain by changing the spatial frequency of the grating is studied.

In this paper we report the experimental study of the metal atomic vapor, opto-galvanic effect and laser fluorescence in the HCD lamps. The fact that the observed lifetime of Cu 4p2P3/2 state increases with the discharge current is attributed to the radiation-trapping.

Cross-correlating the mode-locked dye laser pulses and mode-locked Ar+ laser pulses in a KDP cristal plate, we determined that the pulse width of mode-locked Ar+ laser at 514.5 nm(or 488.0 nm) is about 210 ps and the pulse shape is of Gaussian type.

An effective and precision apparatus for rapid determination of optical reflective and transmissive spectra is described. By using a rapid rotating optical fiber to sample the incident and reflected or transmitted light beams respectively and feedback of the incident beam intensity to monitor the gain of the photomultiplier for keeping the incident photo-current under constant level, the measured signal gives the transmissivity or reflectivity directly. Besides, due to rapid scanning of the sampled signals the requirement 04 the steadiness of the light source is not critical. The relative accuracy of the measurements in the range of 410nm to 650 nm is less than 2% and the time for scanning the complete visible spectrum is 2 minutes.

This paper analyses various factors leading to optical attenuation in magneto-optic grauet films and derives expressions of optical absorption coefficient a and optical scattering coefficient γ. Values of a and 7 of (BiTm)3(FeGa)5O12 films were measured on the magnetooptic rotation measurement installation by means of the comparison method of the magneto-optic modulation.By comparison with an ordinary method, it can not only eliminate effect of absorption in a substrate and reflection on the interface between a film and a substrate upon measuring the value of a of garnet films, but also separate optical scattering coefficient γ from optical absorption coefficient a, so that the measured value of a comparatively approaches the true value of optical absorption coefficient of magneto-optic garnet film materials.

This paper reports the experimental research for atmospheric pressure nitrogen laser or snort tube, with a single block ceramics as dielectric. When the laser discharge electrode is 5.8cm in length, we got pulse energy of 13μJ at 100 Hz, with a maximum average power of 1.3mW, pulse width of 0.8ns, beam divergence of 1.3×3 mrad.

The optogalvanic responeivity E for He-Xe, He-Ne-Xe gas mixtures has beenmeasured. It has been found that the dependence of lg RXe/RHe on ly PXe/P0 is a linear one. Theinfluence of the pressure, discharge current, analytical line and gas compound on analytical sensitivity and accurary have been studied in particular.

Model XCD-1 laser wavemeter is an interferometer with single corner-cube reflector. It can avoid cross-coupling between lasers. A calculator is used for calculation in the circuit. The influence of the lasing interruption of the dye laser can be eliminated by the phase-locked frequency multiplication technique and the envelope detection, automatic resetting. The wavemeter is calibrated with the saturated absorption of the spectral line of 23Na atom. Its absolute accuracy is up to 2 × 10-7.
