Having considered the transverse distribution of the modes and the transverse inhomogeneity of gain and losses, the rate-equations of the oscillating modes are given. The influence of the inopmogeneity on the oscillating condition, properties of the saturated gain, pull-in frequency and oscillating power are also discussed.

This paper presents our theoretical analysis on the breakdown process of He-Ne laser tubes. Based on the analytical results, a new explanation of the mechanism of lowering breakdown valtage is given. The theoretical analysis is found to agree fairly well with the experimental results.

The production of broad band laser output is discussed. The forward-and backward laser spectrum, the second harmonic wave obtained by broad band and narrow band laser irradiation on plane targets are compared.

An electro-optically fast-tuning ruby laser, which consists of a calcite-KDP crystal as the fast-tuning component and a Fabry-Perot resonant frequency selector as the fine wavelength controller, has been developed for a differential absorption lidar(DIAL)system for water vapor sounding in the atmosphere. The laser has stepwise tuning characteristics and emits two pulses in a single shot, with the first pulse tuned at the center of an absorption line of the water vapor and the second one in the nearby valley. Operation theory and tuning characteristics of the laser are discussed in detail.

By using a remodeled supersonic CW HF chemical laser, the direct production of electronically excited species NF(b1∑+)becomes feasible in the F-F2-NH3 system. This is most likely accomplished via the mechanism proposed by Hack, et at plds the V-E energy transfer process NF(a1△)+HF(v)→NF(b1∑+)+HF. The intensity distribution on NF b1∑+→X3∑- emission along the gas flow direction, as well as the quenching rate constants of NF(b1∑+)by NH3 and DF are obtained.

Using short resonator and the time expender with a resolution of 10 ps the effect of pumping energy, concentraction and flow speed of the dye on the mode-locked pulse-width is studied. At a repetition rate of 10 to 20 Hz, we have obtained the output of stable mode-locked pulses. The satellite pulse and mismatching have not been observed. The fluctuation of the pulse amplitude is less than 10%.

Fully dense polycrystalline KCl laser window can be obtained by hot forging technique. The optical properties of polycrystalline KCl are essentially unchanged compared with the starting single crystals. The mechanical strength of polycrystalline KCl depends upon the processing parameters used in hot-forging. Cleavage occured in single crystal can be avoided in the polycrystalline KCl for laser windows.

The optimal value of the discharge circuit element for CVL was obtained. by digital calculation with micro-computer. It was shown that appropriate selection of sharpening capacitor and circuit inductance would decrease the current-pulse length without any harm to the thyratron.

A voltage and current stabilized feedback power supply for Ar~+ lasers is repo-rted, which uses a high power npn transistor(3D14C-T)as the regulator. The power supply is more reliable than the commercial products. As the input three-phase voltage changes from 331V to 407V(variation is±10%), the fluctuation of the laser output power is whithin 0.5%.

In this paper we report burns of Ⅱ degrees with injured area of 10% cured with He-Ne laser treatment. Curative effect of 95% has been attained. Laser treatment of burns only needs 5 min once and it would be cured in 5~15 times generally.
