    This paper describes the fundamental principle and experimental method for spatial frequency analysis of the linear structures in remote sensing images. The faint geologic structures in ERTS image of Yanting county, Sichuan province have been analysed by this method, and useful results obtained.

    Mode-locking of Nd: YAG laser has been achieved at four spectral lines(1.052μm, 1.061μm, 1.064μm and 1.073μm)by inserting prisms as dispersion elements in the cavity. The calculations on prisms are consistent with the experimental results. The stable output wavelength of the laser has been obtained.

    By using additive coloration method, the F-center concentration of 1016~1018cm-3in KCl: Na crystals is obtained. FB(Ⅱ)center is formed by exposing the additively colored crystal to F-band excitation, and its emission band at 77K covers the range of 2.1 to 2.8 μm, and the peak is at 2.5μm.

    A new type of branch-selected ring CO2 laser is described. Laser output at the vibration-rotation lines has been obtained at 9.5μm and 10.6μm. The narrow resonance behavi-our of SF6 in the cavity has been observed.

    The beat signals of the harmonic mixing between He-Ne laser at 3.39μm, CO2 laser and microwave radiation of the klystron has been observed by using a W-Ni point contact MIM diodeu as the harmonic generator and mixer. The signal to noise ratio obtained was 22 dB at the bandwidth of 50 kHz.

    A simple method is presented for measuring output wavelength of a CW branch-selected CO laser by OGE. The measured result is in agreement with that by a monochromator.

    The structure of a fiber-optic transmission system is described. Some parametric computing formulae are derived with an optical fiber with spherical end used for out-of-focusing coupling, and by means of this, the laser-induced damage on fiber flat end face is eliminated in the case of inserting a pulsed YAG: Nd laser beam into the fiber.

    This paper reports the Pb1-x SnxTe and Pb1-ySnySe crystals which have the suitable carrier concentration, low dislocation densities and a proper depth of P-N junction. The crystals have been directly obtained by a horizontal unseeded vapor growth technique at an ap-propriate controlling condition for crystal growth. They have been used in fabricating the CW tunable diode lasers.

    Crystals of K3Nd(PO4)2 and K3NdxLa1-x(PO4)2 have been grown from KF-KCl melt. Chemical analysis and X-ray diffraction pattern proved the constitution of the crystals to be K3Nd(PO4)2. Their infrared, absorption, fluorescene spectra and fluorescence lifetime have been determined.

    Laser-induced damage thresholds in KDP crystals at two polarization directions(i.e. parallel or pcrpendicular to the optical axis)have been measured at 1.06,0.532 and 0.355μm. It is found that the damage threshold sharply decreases as laser frequency increases. The experi-mental result shows that laser-induced damage in KDP crystals is mainly due to multiphoton ionization.

    The calculating formulae and design basis of the shock-attenuation table with two stages for holographic equipments and optical precision instruments are presented. A number of examples illustrate that the stability of this table may be an order of magnitude higher than that with one stage.
