A simple model for photoinitiated F2/H2 chain reaction lasers is presented, which replenishes some deficiencies of Kerber’s model. The compatibility of time coordinates between the laser flux equations of V-R transitions and the kinetic rate equations has been solved. By using Gear’s automatic integration method, satisfactory numerical results have been obtained. The effects of prereaction of F2/H2 mixtures, of O2 content and of photoinitiator on pulsed HF laser performances are presented.

Stationary irradiation of high power CW CO2 laser is used for annealing of arsenic ion implanted silicon. The experimental results indicate complete recovery of crystal damage, high substitution and electrical activation of implanted arsenic atoms. The surface deformation of silicon wafer during scanning by focused laser beam has been eliminated.

The distribution function of electron energy is obtained from the second harmonic component of the probe current. The influence of the additives N2, He, Xe on the electron energy distribution in CO2 laser mixtures are studied, and the average electron energy is obtained.

In this paper we discuss the spectral properties of two organic dyes: pentame-thylidyne and undecamethylidyne. The absorption cross-section σ, radiation lifetime ττ and fluorescence quantum efficiency η are determined from the measured absorption-and fluorescence spactra. On the basis of these parameters the mode-locking properties and the laser action of these dyes are discussed.

The formula for open-circuit output voltage of Blumlein circuit has been obtained by solving the differential equation of the circuit. The approximate formula for open-circuit output voltage of the Blumlein circuit presented by W. A. Fitzsimmons and the authors of "Laser designing basis" is modified. The circuit parameters affecting the increase of peak pulse power of the device have been found. The conclusion of the paper "The N2 lasers"is rectified. The expression for open-circuit output voltage of a capacitor transfer circuit is given.

Experimental study of a XeCl laser with corona preionization is reported. The maximum output energy per pulse is over 250 mj. The effects of various discharge parameters on the output energy of XeCl excimer lasers are studied.

Considering the effect of the position of the laser axial-modes on the gain shape and the pull-in frequency, we have calculated the wavelength-tuned characteristics of the off-axial grating cavity for vibration-rotation transition in CO laser when rotating the grating. It has been found that more transition lines can be selected by the off-axial grating cavity, and the optimum output can be obtained with the off-axial cavity. The effect has been demonstrated in the experiment.

Four types of emission spectra from stripe-geometry GaAs-GaAlAs double hetero-tructure lasers are described and their origin studied. It has been found that the multimode configuration is caused by the nonuniformity in the active region and its adjacent area. Mode shift and competition have been measured at different current levels. We have noticed that wavelengths shift toward the shorter ones with the increase of the current. The experimental results for devices with higher thermal resistance are contrary to the above conclusions.

Preliminary results of an all metal structure argon laser are briefly deseribed in this paper. In this laser the discharge tube with an inside diameter of 8mm and discharge length of 300mm is made of water-cooled segmented aluminium disks. Water-cooled cold-arc-cathode in cup-shape and tube-shaped anode are used.

Investigation on short pulse xenon lamps for pumping dye lasers has been made. The pulse duration and rise-time is less than 2μs and 0.6μs respectively, with a lifetime of more than 107 shots in normal discharge loading. The effects of the physical and technical parameters of the lamps on the maximum energy loading and radiative characteristics are described.

A description is given of the precise measurement of the wavef ront curvature of large diameter laser beams using the lens array. The precision of the measured wavefront curvature is up to the order of the focal depth. The results obtained are compared with those from the mesh projection image and the shearing interference. It indicates that the accuracy for judgement reading has been raised notably.
