The variation characters of the A1 mode Raman spectra of chalcopyrite under 0.1~1 400 MPa and ambient temperature were researched using diamond anvil cell. The results show that the shape and intensity of the Raman peak remains constant under experimental conditions, indicating that the chemical bounds of Cu-S and Fe-S remain unchanged. The authors have also noticed that the position of the Raman peak shifts to higher frequency with increasing pressure, which could be described as: ν290=0.031 2p+290.60(0.1≤p<58.8 MPa) and ν290=0.005 72p+292.10(58.8≤p<1 400 MPa). The rate of the Raman peak shifting with increasing pressure changed abruptly at about 58.8 MPa, the dν/dp is 31.2 and 5.72 cm-1·GPa-1 below and above 58.8 MPa respectively, which perhaps indicate that some structural changes occurred in the chalcopyrite.
