Analysis of Statistical Characteristics of First- and Second-Order Polarization Mode Dispersion
The statistical characteristics of the first- and second-order polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is analyed by using Jones Matrix (JME) method, and the statistical regularity of PMD is derived. The scales of second-order PMD parameters to first-order PMD parameter are derived. It is instructive to simplify the measurement and compensation of second-order PMD.
