The Research of Fabricating Two-Dimensional Photorefractive Photonic Lattice within Linear-defect

    Utilizing the method of cross phase,the two-dimensional photorefractive photonic lattice with linear-defect is fabricated in self-defocusing photorefractive crystal by 532 nm laser. The lattice-spacing is 12.8 μm×12.8 μm and linear-defect width is about 32.6 μm. The result proves that it makes localizing and guiding the beam with linear-defect come true in LiNbO3:Fe crystal,which minus refractive index is only 10-5-10-3 because the existence of photonic lattice and the effect of band-gap. The result indicates that it is feasible to fabricate two-dimensional photorefractive photonic lattice with linear-defect in LiNbO3:Fe crystal and localize the beam in the linear-defect. Utilizing this property,it can make optical component which is similar to photonic crystal fibers. It is very important for optical communication′s developing.
