The application of the Lorentz model and real-cavity model to the dependence of spontaneous radiative lifetime of localized luminescent centers of the surrounding media is analyzed. Various experimental results available in the literature are successfully interpreted with the models applicable to the cases. The criterion as to which model should be applied for a specified case is presented.
