Aiming at the limited modulation bandwidth of light emitting diode(LED) in visible light communication(VLC) system, a hybrid scheme combining multiband carrierless amplitude-phase(mCAP) modulation with pairwise coding(PWC) is proposed. In this scheme, PWC technology pairs and interleaves high-frequency sub-bands with low-frequency sub-bands to effectively overcome the signal to noise ratio(SNR) imbalance problem. Validated by the experiment, the optimal rotation angle corresponding to PWC coding is given when the number of subbands is 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively, and the maximum modulation order that can be transmitted under the specified bandwidth is analyzed. The experimental results show that compared with the traditional mCAP-VLC system, the mCAP-VLC system based on PWC can transmit higher modulation order.
