Study of Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor System Based on Wavelength-Division Multiplexing /Time-Division Multiplexing
The available resources of fiber bragg grating (FBG) sensor network is extremely rich in the frequency and time domain.A network employing single multiplexing technology can only use the resources on the one hand and the utilization ratio of network resources is low.In order to improve the efficiency of sensor network,a new type of FBG sensor network based on wavelength-division multiplexing/time-division multiplexing (WDM/TDM) techniques is designed. The fiber bandwidth is employed to WDM with arrayed waveguide grating (AWG),and then to TDM on each WDM channel. The analysis results show that the system performance is affected by shot noise and crosstalk.Making full use of optical wavelength and time domain information, the system shows the potentialities of interrogating and demodulating signals from several hundreds of FBG sensors. The sensor network can achieve a large capacity, increase bandwidth utilization ratio, reduce costs and have a good application prospects in the future.
