A cyanine polymer coating was prepared by spin coating process on pregrooved PC substrate, and its optical storage performance was studied. The reflectance and the absorbance at 830 nm of the coating are high enough for optical storage. With optimum recording condition, 58 dB CNR was obtained. The CNR, C (carrier signal level) have following relations with ΔR (change of relfectance of the coating before and after recording): C∝lgΔR, CNR∝lgΔR.
