The phase plates with different phase differences were fabricated according to the experimental scheme that used phase plates to generate controllable double-well optical traps. The diffraction intensity distributions of different phase plates and intensity distribution from double-well to single-well evolution process were measured. The experimental results showed good accordance with the theoretical results. Further analysis of the results revealed that the phase plates with Δφ≠π can generate asymmetric double-well optical traps. This has important applications in atomic optics experiment and develops their application range.
