The transmission performance of Gaussian pulses over ultra high polarization mode dispersion (PMD) fiber is studied. The Gaussian pulses are broken into a series of deformed pulses in the experiment. And the phenomenon has been explained as the walk-off of the deformed pulses caused by ultra high PMD. Transmission experiment has been done by using a fiber with PMD coefficient of 237.95 ps/km 1/2 . The simulated result is consistent with the experimental one.
