Development of fire-resistant optical cable for ships
To meet the high-reliability development requirements for shipboard equipment, a fire-resistant optical cable for use on ships has been developed. Firstly, the structure of the fire-resistant optical cable was designed, high-performance materials were selected, and the manufacturing process was optimized. Then, test standards and methods for the fire-resistant optical cable were proposed, specifying the detailed procedures for the 950 ℃ fire resistance test and the water spray fire resistance test. Finally, the combustion performance of the optical cable was validated through simulation. The test results show that after being exposed to a 950 ℃ flame for 90 minutes continuously, cooling for 15 minutes, and then subjected to another 950 ℃ flame for 15 minutes followed by a 15-minute water spray test, the optical transmission performance change of the cable remained at an extremely low level of less than 0.7 dB. Compared with existing products on the market, this optical cable not only increased the fire-resistant temperature by 300 ℃ but also achieved a reduction in additional fire-induced attenuation of 9 dB.
