Study on chalcogenide glasses as cores of infrared optical fibers
Compositions and properties of some core materials based on S, Se, and Te have been investigated with their advantages and disadvantages compared. We adopted a method of purifying glass with results showing that some absorption bands (at 3μm, 6.3μm, 8μm etc.) were eliminated and the absorption band at 11μm was decreased markedly on infrared transmitting carves.
