The relation between output correlation spot shape and length width ratio of input correlation image was analyzed quantificationally by using of diffraction theory in the joint transform correlation. Through theoretical analysis and test research, conclusions show that with the input correlation image's length width ratio becoming smaller, the output correlation spot shape approaches circular spot and with the input correlation image' s length width ratio becoming bigger, the output correlation spot shape departures circular spot.
