    Aim

ing at the fringe count error (FCE) in the spaceborne infrared Fourier spectrometer, the reason for its formation and its influence on the recovered spectrum are systematically introduced. Further, detection and correction methods are proposed. The number of FCEs can be accurately obtained by linearly fitting the shifted phase of the interferogram. The accuracy of the method is verified via a theoretical simulation, resulting in an error as low as 1.25%. Actual data are used to verify the proposed method. The verification results show that the method can achieve better detection and correction.
