New dither parameters which consist of K coefficient and the noise intensity in the dither amplitude are proposed to replace the traditional ones which consist of oscillating bias amplitude and the noise intensity in the dither drive signal. The improvement provides a same criteria for laser gyros with different dither frequencies and injecting efficiencies to compare with each other. The effects of ditker parameters such as K coefficient and the noise intensity in the dither amplitude on the null-shift stability and the angle random walk of dithered laser gyro are disscussed in detail.Experiments show that the null-shift stability and the angle random walk can be reduced to a minimum and the laser gyro works in good condition when K choose the value between 600 and 650,and the noise intensity in the dither amplitude choose the value between two and three percent.
