Single frequency TE CO2 laser

    Single frequency laser output has been obtained for the first time from a transverse excitation (TE) CO2 laser with the simple method of shortening the cavity length and decreasing total gas pressure appropriately. The cavity length of the laser is 14 cm only with activating length of 10 cm. The pressure is 240Torr. The single frequency output energy of 7 mJ is obtained.
