Studies on Electron Paramagnetic Resonance of Ti3+Ions in Ti: Al2O3Crystal
EPR studies on Ti:Al2O3 crystal with different orientations of the optical axis of c with respect to the septic magnetic field were performed at 93 K and room temperature. A strongly anisotropic resonant line at 93 K with g=2. 00, and lines with g = 2. 00 at room temperature were attributed respectively to the electronic spin transtions of the first and upper excitation energy level 1E1/2 and 2A1 of the ground state of Ti3+ ions in Ti:Al2O3 crystal. The assignments were in agreement with both the far infrared spectral measurements and g factor calculations using crystal field theory.
