Two-Level Reduction of a Ξ-Type Three-Level Hamiltonian without Rotating-Wave Approximation
The reduction of the Hamiltonian for a three lvel atomic system in a Ξ configuration to an effective two level one and the relative physical effects are discussed both with and without the rotating wave approximation.
