Study of self-frequency-doubling from 1.06 to 0.53μm with a multi-functional crystal NYAB

    A new excited emission/nonlinear multi-funotioiial crystal rare earth borate crystal NdxY1-xAl3(BO3)4(abb. NYAB) has been developed. The effective nonlinear coefficient of type I phase matohirtg XIeff=4.056×10-9 e.s.u. is 4 timea more than that of the KDP crystals provided that the phase matohing coditions are satisfied. The measured value by SHG method is in good agreement with this data. Using the tunable dye laser (Dataohrom-5000) as pumping source, the laser self-frequency-doubling output from the NYAB crystal at 1.06~0.53 μm is obtained for the first time. The threshold energy measured is less than 2 mJ, maximum oonyersion efficiency is 14.3%; and the output energy at 0.53 μm is 5mJ.
