The working principle and the experimental results of a non contacting strain measurement system is described based on laser speckle interference for high temperature sample. The measurement results for tungsten and graphite specimens show that the system can be used in the high temperature material strain mesurement with a 1 μm accuracy. Equipped with a narrow band filter of central wavelength 0.633 μm and bandwidth 2.4 nm and a suitable processing circuit, the highest temperatur of strain measurement reaches 2300℃ for low roughness material such as tungsten ribbon, and reaches 1500℃ for high roughness material such as graphite.
