A Method of Angular Glint Suppression for Frequency-Agility Monopulse Radar Based on a Rank Detector Preprocessor
The angular glint error is the main error source for seeker homing guidance when targets are closing to the radar. It may make the radar point to the space outside the target scale. Therefore, in order to improve the accuracy of angle measurement and tracking, the angular glint must be suppressed effectively. This paper proposed a method with a rank detector preprocessor based on frequency agility and RCS amplitude weighting. When target echo signals are received, the radar can wipe off the echo pulses that may produce strong angular glint noise depending on the output of detector. Therefore, these pulses do not participate in the weighted angle measurement. The simulation experiment shows that the method has fine inhibition effect to angular glint.
