Polarization-Splitting 2×4 90° Free-Space Optical Hybrid with Phase Compensation
A 2×4 90° free-space optical hybrid with polarization splitting is designed and fabricated for intersatellite coherent laser communication. Two phase compensation arrangements by using a λ/4 waveplate are proposed and a phase shift testing method based on the deramping method from a chirped laser is developed. The mathematic analysis, system design and experimental result are given. It is shown that this hybrid works stably, the compensation function works effectively, and the phase test is accurate and simple in configuration.
