Combined with the development trend of vehicle networking, an adaptive front lighting system (AFS) for automobile based on vehicle on-board diagnostic (OBD) interface is proposed, which can overcome the problems existing in the traditional scheme of vehicle data acquisition by means of external sensors, such as multi-sensors, high cost and installation inconvenience. The main features of the system is that it can realize the adaptive analysis of the vehicle bus protocol, and read the driving information such as the vehicle speed and the steering wheel angle required by the adaptive lighting system through the vehicle OBD interface. Simultaneously, the prototype test results show that the average error between the theoretical corner angle of the headlamp and the actual corner is less than 5%, which meets the system function requirements.
