Description
Recently, there has been growing interest in the study of complex optical fields with tailored space-time characteristics. These sculptured spatiotemporal optical fields bring additional dimensions for fundamental studies in classic and quantum optics, and opens opportunities for applications ranging from super-resolution imaging, nanofabrication, optical manipulation, high-dimensional communication to quantum information.
Meanwhile, the quest for time-varying optical materials has also led to significant interest growth. compared with conventional time-invariant media, such media provide a new degree of freedom to control electromagnetic fields and light-matter interactions in both time and space, bringing us surprising physical effects such as nontrivial frequency shifting, optical nonreciprocity, floquet topological phase, and so on. The time materials also provide a possible route to generate and tailor spatiotemporal optical fields.
This Chinese Optics Letters Workshop will present recent advances in spatiotemporal optical fields and time-varying optical materials, from fundamental theories, novel physical properties, to a wide range of applications.
